Ecological Anxiety on the Green Front

Andrew, S (2024) Ecological Anxiety on the Green Front

In the late 2010s the world started noticing more effects from climate change. This prompted more workers to go into the environmental field and caused a record number of people suffering from anxiety. In this research paper the author tries to connect mental health and anxiety to workers on the front line of environmental companies. Do they have enough help, benefits, or money to afford the extra anxiety their job gives? We see the workers compared to doctors who work in health care, as well as workers in nonprofit companies who receive better benefits on average then a for-profit worker. This report points out how little this research is explored and asks for more studies to be conducted.

This is important work to show as it connects anxiety and health care in a way we don't see. Studying the effects of a high stress job will help give high stress workers better health care and benefits. This paper efficiently showcases how a proper comparison can lead to credible findings when other research studies are hard to find.

Andrew, S. (2022) Study for the Rights of Sex Workers

This paper looks at how different groups try to offer health or safety to a highly marginalized group. Offering surveys is a tested method of getting answers from a group you are trying to help. In terms of using a website most sex workers have shown that they prefer being anonymous in their transactions. This article also offers a recommendation that future organizations who assist with a marginalized group should offer surveys anonymously.

Study for the Rights of Sex Workers shows how data can be collected and analyzed efficiently to create a powerful conclusion to a question. This is important to understand In regard to reading data and understanding the collection method. Since surveys were taken anonymously the answers are often closer to how the marginalized community feels, since they will not fear repercussions.

Building for the Future with Salmon in Mind

Andrew, S., Gettleman N., Lu, H., McDonald T. (2023) Building for the Future With Salmon in Mind

This research project created by the four authors was information presented to the city of Lynnwood, Washington as they prepared to develop more land. In this paper it focuses on the land where Lynnwood is, note that salmon streams are very numerous in the region. The authors hoped to show in the presentation how important salmon were so the city would keep the streams untouched during development. Facts were shown such as education grants, native heritage, and different types of green planning that worked human structures into green spaces.

Understanding this paper is very important for other cities that try and develop into large ecological zones. This paper proves that different solutions are possible for massive development projects. The collaboration among the group is equally important as all four parts of the paper were weaved together seamlessly.

Tech And Justification In Consumerism

Andrew, S. (2023) Consumption and Waste

After industrialization goods created for people exploded in sales across the world. This informational website focuses on how the United States went from an agriculturally based society to one that focuses entirely on exporting and importing goods. The modernization of factories is shown as well as the advertisements that sold the product, who they targeted and why. This website also gives the reasons behind why the United States thought citizens deserved to buy more than they needed, ideas like Utilitarianism and Anthropocentric viewpoints. Creation of the Internet is also explored here and how drastically it changed mass consumption for the worse.

This website is important because of how it shows the reasoning behind overconsumption. We can see how certain ideals become the cornerstone of the United States market, and how important advertising is. Advertising is something everyone should pay attention to in their day to day, as it shows up in places you wouldn't expect. As we push forward into a new era of green ideals this website offers us alternatives to the Amazon experience of getting something new at the push of a button.

Ireland Trade Analysis

Andrew, S. (2022) Ireland Celtic Tiger

Understanding the global economy is an important factor for living in the modern era. This dive into the economy of Ireland shows all of the lows and highs of the global economy. Using graphs and data it is shown how the Irish economy prospered from tourism and tech but crashed in 2007. How they survived on exporting medical supplies, even at the cost of losing their farmlands to factories. We see how Ireland was able to pay off its debt in record time even while their government was racked with chaos. It is debated in this article if foreign investment truly saved this country from collapse or are we still waiting for its inevitable fall.

Ireland is an important step in understanding how countries needed to change after industrialization. Analyzing the data in this article shows how interconnected our world is, despite the extreme distances between continents. Countries have learned to survive because of the help that other governments give them, either through trade or tourism. This also offers us the thought of how important world trade is, especially as we shift into green policies of less waste and production.

Wetlands Appreciation

Andrew, S. (2020) Wetlands Appreciation

To understand human connection with nature it is important to focus on the different biomes that people live. This deep dive into the wetlands focuses on everything this biome provides for people. Using data from Washington State, and in particular the University of Washington Bothell campus, the wetlands biome shows it's true potential. Studies show that wetlands provide carbon capture, water recycling, and natural habitats for a diverse ecosystem. At the Bothell campus it was proven that people can bring a wetlands biome back from destruction, but it takes time and money.

As the population on the planet increases it is becoming harder to find places for people to live. Fully understanding wetlands is important for Washington State as they address this issue. Wetlands and marshes are often destroyed for more housing developments despite the services of water reclamation that they provide. Learning the human benefits of all of Earths' biome may help protect them in the future
